How To: Make Your Soil Great

Professionals know that good soil is the foundation of any garden. Without it, nothing else matters. Not the plants. Not the fertilizers. Not the care.

Think about last years garden.

Was the soil hard to work? Did you have to water non stop in the heat to keep

things from wilting? Did you have a lot of weeds? Did the neighbors point and laugh at your yard?

You can fix most of those problems... now.

Imagine soil so soft you can almost dig with your bare hands. Think about how great it would be to not have to worry about a watering ban burning up your flowers and vegetables. Can you see the look on the neighbors face when your gorgeous plants dwarf her puny attempts?

Que evil laugh...

Take the time now to put some compost and microbes back

into the soil.

Whether you opt for individual composts or use garden soil (which is a great mixture of composts), mix in a generous amount into the soil when you dig your planting holes or spread a couple inches on the soil surface and work it in.

Use an organic fertilizer with beneficial microbes. Microbes help the plants to absorb nutrients and water more efficiently. You should also put down a layer of mulch that is 2 to 4 inches thick. Mulch helps smother weeds and keeps in vital moisture.

Work smarter, not harder.
